Script Outline:
Going off of Hanna’s idea whose main
character, Sally, is a stowaway, I utilize her as a way to introduce the story
I created as well as a driving character for the protagonist Martha.
The scene begins when Sally catches
Martha slyly watching a couple, Trevor and Cassie, who appear to be very into
each other. Sally and Martha strike up a conversation and Sally learns
that Martha is there, because she needed to get away after discovering her
husband’s adulterous behavior. Martha explains that the cruise was her
chance to make some serious decisions about her life, and what she would do once
her husband was out of it.
We eventually discover that the decision
Martha has to make is whether or not to kill her husband, who turns out to be
Trevor. We also discover Cassie, Trevor’s
mistress, is in cahoots with Martha and has been every since Martha discovered
they were having an affair. Martha’s decisions
become difficult ones not only because she’s considering committing a murder,
but because Cassie is under the impression that Martha is in love with her –
something she never experienced with Trevor – when she, in fact, is not.
I’m not sure how it ends yet, but I feel
like no one will really get what they want, but whatever happens is the result of the way Sally (who has no idea Martha wants to kill her husband, or that he is even on the ship) encourages Martha.
