A possible character trait for The Captain.

What if the captain of this ship had a flawless sailing record with no issues, but yet outside of his life he has a terrible time of keeping himself together at all?  Like the only thing he has clean is his captain’s uniform, but everything else he owns, his everyday clothes are all wrinkled, his apartment is covered with Burger King wrappers and M&M wrappers, empty Foster Beer cans... What if he's being forced to retire for whatever reason, like I stated in the previous thread about the ship being more computorized and captains like him are no longer needed?
