Hey there,
I know I missed last Tuesday's class due to some baby circumstances, but I think I got the low-down from a few people. Based on where we are now and some of the thoughts/opinions floating in the group I think these are our two best options at this point (and forgive me if I'm either repeating what's been said or stating the obvious). Here they are in no particular order:
1. Continue the path we're on and do a show of vignettes/scenes around the ship theme that may or may not connect to one another.
2. That those who have writing as their #1 objective on this project come together, look at what's been written and:
A. Use some parts of what's been written thus far and write a script.
or
B. Scrap some/most/all of the ideas written thus far and write something totally new.
Furthermore, I think we need to decide this ASAP. We also need to lock in the date(s) of the show and select our #1 location as well as a back-up location. These action items need to be decided very soon, like this Tuesday. We can't go back and complaining that we're not where we should be will not help at this point. I will present these points verbally on Tuesday in class.
We're not screwed yet, far from it, but the mindset of us as a whole is being tested and we must work together to make the best show possible. Some things will not make it into the show, that's just a reality, and I worry that some feelings may be hurt by this, but if this show even vaguely represents what we will face in the world outside of CSULA then compromise and teamwork will certainly be the modus operandi.
Let's keep moving and enjoy doing it! I will. Someday we'll look back and (hopefully) laugh.
Matt
Agreed. Cool. Outlines are being presented next week, to be clear. But with what we have, with edits that can easily(?) be morphed into a script. At least this is how I see it and is the frame I'm working for tuesday's class.
